In 1989, Mac McCaughan formed both Superchunk and Merge Records, and the world of indie rock has never been the same. His band, as well as his label, have been a symbol of excellence for nearly 30 years. Besides his influential work with Superchunk, he has also been a member of many other bands such as Portastatic, which started out as a lo-fi side project and eventually turned into his main focus for years. In 2015 Mac released his first true solo album, Non-Believers.
Mac has written the score for the independent features Who Loves the Sun (Lukas Haas, Adam Scott), Looking For Leonard, and most recently Amber Tamblyn’s directorial debut Paint It Black, due later this year.
