Sulene is a South African New Yorker who you’ve likely seen of heard before, whether you know it or not. You may have witnessed her blue hair on late night TV as the guitarist for Nate Ruess of fun., or heard her music scoring your favorite Showtime drama, or Verizon Commercial. You may even know her as the guitarist/bassist avatar on Rock Band VR. Sulene’s “blissful bedroom synth pop” is garnering some well-deserved praise in her adopted home of Brooklyn. With St. Vincent-worthy guitar riffs that glide over pulsing 80’s drum beats, her debut single “Diamond” has already garnered press from Billboard, The 405, Bubblegum Club (South Africa), and much more. Another upcoming single, “Out Of Your Head”, co-written with Dave Rublin of American Authors, has already appeared in a Nike campaign. Her music has been heard in MTV, Lyft, and Dior campaigns. Sulene’s unreleased Fire Escaping EP garnered interest from Topshelf Records, aiming for a 2020 release with vinyl and heavy touring.
