LAPECHE is singer/guitarist Krista Diem, her husband and bassist Dave Diem, and guitarist Drew DeMaio. Former drummers include Jeff Gensterblum and Richard Salino.

Inspired by indie-alternative aesthetics and DIY ethics, the New York City-based band fuses hook and melody with a sonic backdrop of ambient-ethereal vocals, driving guitars, and a bombastic rhythm section.  As they quickly bloomed from singer and backing band to full-blown collaborative, their songs explore the fine line between light and dark, pop and post-punk, and the hopeful melancholy of love and personal growth.

The band has toured with Jawbox (Dischord/Atlantic) as direct support in Boston, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, and Washington, DC, and has previously played with acts such as  J. Robbins Band, Torche, Russian Baths, Do Make Say Think, The Cave Singers, Erica Frias, Lauren Denitzio, Deadaires and more.  Other dates include the Sing Out Loud Festival (St. Augustine, FL) and Gainesville,’s The Fest, on multiple occasions. They have toured the East Coast/SE/Midwest and most recently, completed a string of regional dates with the reunited Chamberlain, in Spring 2022.

The band’s most recent LP,  Blood in the Water‘, received positive press coverage in Under The Radar, Brooklyn Vegan, New Noise, Talkhouse + more – with singles “Oliver,” “Finally Trying,” “Bells” and “Elbow Grease” appearing on 14 different Spotify Editorial Playlists resulting in a very active listener base and fan retention.  LAPECHE wrapped 2021 with 165K listeners and  ‘Blood in the Water’ charted on both the NACC 200 (#40 on the Album Charts & #5 Most Added Debut) & SubModern Albums (#5)  & SubModern Singles (“Finally Trying” @ #14 and “Bells” @ #16). Most recently, the the band’s latest single,  Mermaid Blues debuted on the SubModern singles chart at #13.

The band has also remained active in social media by supporting important causes and collaborating with other artists. Last year, the band launched a campaign for various charities followed by the official release of the material in 2022.  Titled the ‘Spirit Bunnies Remixes’, the band collaborated with members of Interpol, The Album Leaf, and The Mercury Program. 2022 has also seen the release of the well-received single, Bottom Feeder – V1 and their latest song,  Mermaid Blues.

Currently, LAPECHE is in the later stages of writing their next LP to be produced by Grammy-nominated producer/engineer Alex Newport whose past work includes City & Color, Death Cab For Cutie, At The Drive-In, Moaning and many more.  He has kindly offered to make himself available to chat regarding the next record and his involvement in the project.
